These cards are also known as Prox Cards and generally are of low-frequency 125Khz that features metallic antenna coil inside the top layer and bottom layer of card that stores cardholder data. This information can be easily read by the proximity reader or proximity sensor when the card is within the range of the reader. The proximity cards are contactless cards and they have an antenna embedded in the card. However, the proximity cards are read-only cards and the information on these cards cannot be manipulated. The proximity cards also use radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The applications of these cards include access control, identification, and security.
